Forty-five people died at Memorial Hospital, a tragedy Pulitzer Prize winning reporter Sheri Fink documents in a best-selling book and new Apple TV+ series. She discusses her investigation with ML, Marc and Shawn, while Joey checks the date on the peanut butter in his bunker.
STRAIGHT DOPE: Sheri is a bonafide journalism rock star, so ML naturally starts off with a story about how her dad sued his dad many years ago in case that pitted ceramic figurines against sex toys.
Marc and ML pepper Sheri with questions about “Five Days at Memorial,” which is now an 8-episode series exploring the debate that has raged in the 17 years since Hurricane Katrina about whether doctors at Memorial Hospital in New Orleans killed patients who were deemed too sick to survive.
Before she was a reporter, Sheri was a doctor. And a PhD. And part of an international medical corps that treated patients in a Bosnian war zone. She discusses her career and how it prepared her for her epic investigation into the deaths at Memorial Hospital…or were they murders?
Sheri talks about lessons learned from the Memorial disaster, and how they could be applied from everything from the COVID-19 pandemic to Hurricane Ian.
