Shawn Windsor is back and grouchier than ever while Marc is his ebullient self and ML tries — and fails — to talk about his recent debate coverage.
STRAIGHT DOPE
Shawn muses about the fate of famous directors and actors who seem to have disappeared after dominating films for so many years. Among his favorites is Gene Hackman … who ML noted has not made a movie since he died.
Marc says he liked Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” which ML hasn’t seen, even though he liked the book.
After hearing about Joe Buck’s big bucks deal, ML wonders if any broadcaster is worth $30 million a year. Marc asks whether anyone has ever stopped watching a sporting event because of the broadcasters, then answers his own question by citing the ill-fated duo of Rick Rizz and Bob Rathbun.
Shawn’s reference to self-love prompts ML to mention his beloved Michigan State Spartan football team, which beat itself Saturday in a surprisingly competitive game with Northwestern.
Meanwhile, in Ann Arbor, Marc was hanging with the Carr family when the Bryce Underwood Era may have ended for his beloved Michigan Wolverines in a surprisingly competitive game with Penn State.
Marc wonders why everyone gets so mad about young guys making lots of money, reviving our regular debate about whether money is ruining college sports. (Spoiler alert: ML is outnumbered. Again.)
Here’s what Shawn had to say about what should happen next with Carr and Underwood.
