ESPN’s Dan Wetzel comes off the bench to host. Caitlin Clark & WNBA racism, Bill Belichick’s “distraction” JorDon Hudson, Trump’s College Sports Commission, and Shawn Windsor’s trip to jail. 

STRAIGHT DOPE: ML is bike riding in France, Shawn is covering the Detroit Tigers in St. Louis, and Erika is on the Local 4 news beat.  Thankfully, friend of the show and ESPN writer Dan Wetzel was available to pinch hit. 

After being the very first writer at Yahoo! Sports, Dan left and joined the worldwide leader ESPN in March. 

Dan’s also an accomplished author and has released the newest book of his Epic Athlete series.

Superstar Caitlin Clark is now the most divisive athlete in sports.  Every story about the WNBA seems to be about racism and not about basketball. 
Angel Reese v. Caitlin Clark is not Bird v. Magic.  It’s more Michael Jordan v. Ben Wallace.  

Bill Belichick is allegedly engaged to his “muse,” JorDon Hudson.  Most people would describe her as a distraction. Dan points out that Belichick will not only be fine but thrives when there are “distractions”. 

There’s a feeling that college football and basketball are broken. Will Donald Trump and Nick Saban’s Commission on College Football hurt or help the sports?

The Detroit Lions will be seen on five different networks this season. Television has totally changed the landscape of sports.

Shawn Windsor shows up via the magic of the internet… and immediately tells the story about his wasted high school road trip to the St. Louis Gateway Arch.

GEEK OF THE WEEK: There are many nominations this week from the Newark Airport, Antonio Brown, and the New Orleans jail.  Marc decides the winner of this week is the man with his own “masturbation tree”.

Dan and the guys agree that when there’s an escape from prison, we all root for the escapee… until we find out their crimes.

Marc goes over his own criminal record, and Shawn reveals that he spent some time in the clink.
